Chapter overview - This is the First Chapter of Nidan Sthana. It contains 92 Sholkas. Broadly, there are 2 segments in this chapter. The first segment of this chapter starts with basic idea of Vata dosa and its properties, then it discusses 5 types of vata. After then there are explanation of effect of disturbed vata dosha (including its types) on local and general body, and there are also a good discussion with other Doshas.
The Second segment includes the disease of Vata - Vatarakta, akshepak, aptantrak, grandhsi, vishwashi, koshtuk shirsh, khanja & pangu, vata kantak, pada daha, pada harsh, avabhauk, badhirya, karnashoola, tuni-pratuni, adhayaman, pratyadhyamana, ashthila - pratyashthila.
